Winnie will talk about a project funded by the Olof Palme Centre that she is involved with in partnership with the Pamoja Trust in Kenya. The aim of the project is to establish dialogue circles (study circles) as a tool for collective non-formal learning and dialogue in communities around Kenya, so that people, with emphasis on the marginalized groups, can address issues affecting them. Some of the problems we will discuss are: lack of water, lack of fire fighting equipments, security, unemployement, HIV/AIDS, drought, challenges faced by the youth, discrimination based on gender and sexuality, etc. Some of the issues adressed have resulted in projects.
